The ultimate reality is that we are just sound vibrations, Vedic scholar Baskaran Pillai tells Sonal Srivastava (as published in the Speaking Tree- link below)

What is Nadi Astrology?
It’s one of the oldest forms of astrology Nadi leaves have predictions about past, future and present, written on them. Nadi astrologers are trained to read writings on leaves that appear like scribbles on its surface. Just by looking at your thumbprint, a Nadi astrologer will be able to tell you your name, your father’s name, your mother’s name, how old you are, when you were born, how many children you have and also the diseases you are suffering from.

The astrologer will ask you some questions, for instance: is your name starting with letters such as K or C or G? This form of astrology is based on the theory that souls are classified as sounds and there are different permutations and combinations of souls. It is based on ancient linguistics. The leaves are classified according to the thumbprints; by looking at the thumbprint, they will bring the bundle and then match it with your profile. Some say that writings on the leaves were by rishis, who wrote in Sanskrit.

A Tamil king collected the leaves and preserved them in a library. Later, the leaves were auctioned by the British to a few astrologers and they became the custodians of this knowledge.

How important are sound vibrations in our understanding of the soul?

The ultimate reality is we are just sound vibrations and Nadi Astrology is also based on sound vibrations. Souls are eternal and are ever-evolving; they were not created by anyone. Everybody has a soul, even plants and animals have souls. By souls, we mean consciousness or sound; for sound vibrations create consciousness.

The string theory in Particle Physics talks about vibrations. Your sound vibrations match with that of sound vibrations representing your father and mother. There is a family of souls and somehow, it’s related to your thumbprint. There are no accidents in life even if it is a disease that you are suffering from, it is predetermined. Medicine deals with the physical body; it can’t diagnose the problems in the subtle body. Everything visible has an invisible basis; for instance, matter is not just matter, but it is made up of particles.

A glass of water is not just a glass of water; it’s a bunch of atoms or strings, but you see it as matter. You don’t think of me as atoms, you perceive me as reality. You are only seeing reality through your senses and your senses are restricted to the material world. What you see is only maya as we process everything through the mind. Soul is a conscious entity; it is everywhere including inanimate objects, and they also have knowingness. Earlier we used to think that only the brain thinks, but our genes think too.

Do sound vibrations have the power to change our lives?
Thought is made up of sound vibrations There is often a debate on which comes first, thought or word? Can you think a thought without a word? Word itself is made of syllables. There are 16 vowels and 35 consonants that create consciousness. The first sound is ‘a’ — it can give you omniscience; ‘ah’ will give you omnipotence, sound of ‘ee’ will give you desire. Consciousness was created from the drums of Shiva. These sound vibrations are building blocks of energy and matter.

If you know sound waves, you can create everything.

What are seed mantras?
Mantras generate energy in you For instance, ‘aim’ is the sound for Saraswati; if you repeat it, you develop intellect. When you utter the mantra, the brain produces alpha waves for creating harmony in the brain Shrim is Lakshmi’s mantra; practising it attracts wealth. The Lakshmi mantra can shield you from stock market fluctuations, if done collectively. Klim is the mantra of Parvati that helps you work on your relationships and find a life partner.

There are different ways of doing the japa. Usually, when you have said the mantra at least 10 lakh times, you can analyse whether you were able to accomplish anything that you wanted to at the start of the mantra. A japa is another way of chanting, you don’t have to move your lips or your vocal chords — you chant the mantra in your mind. Another way of using the mantra is called pashyanti, which is a pre-thought form; you just keep the mantra in your mind It is like an idea — you know that it is present, but it is only a concept in your mind.

I knew I had a leaf.  I was at an evening seminar Toronto lead by an enlightened Siddha Master from India.  He spoke of these mysterious leaves that promised to be destiny changing.

Although the logic of it seemed improbable, my gut feeling was that I had a leaf and I was going to India to find it.   I knew I had a leaf.

Within 4 weeks I was at the entrance to a ‘Nadi House’ where the leaves were waiting.  I’d since learned that written on these leaves was the story of my soul; what was my past,  present and the future of my journey.  The system itself was referred to as Nadi Astrology and I was at a Nadi Reader’s house to experience ‘something’ that was truly amazing.  The anticipation was a mix of anxiety and excitement.

I was ushered into a small room filled with heady incense and the sweet aroma of chai tea.  The Nadi Reader had bundles of ancient palm leaves on the desk in front of him.  He ceremoniously  unwound the string that held the seemingly fragile writings together.  The actions were so reverent.  He pondered over the first leaf for a moment and then began to ‘read’.  I couldn’t understand a word as the language was the almost lost old Tamil that was written and spoken in prose.   I was swept away in its charming intoxicating spell only to be urged to consciousness as the translator asked me if I had 3 brothers.

I obliged with the terms of agreement only to answer yes or no to the Reader’s questions.  I said no.  He flipped to the next leaf in the bundle and started to ‘sing’ again.  The translator asked if my mother’s name started with ‘pa’.  I said no.  Again, the reader flipped to the next leaf.  Was I born on a Tuesday?  Yes.  Did my father work as a doctor?  No… on to the next leaf.  It went on for about 45 minutes like this.  Yes or no.  Yes or no.

Then yes, yes, yes, yes….was this my leaf?  All the answers were yes!

My leaf had been found.  The next step was to have the leaf and all its’ ‘chapters’ translated and go and do the remedies.

…To Be Continued…

The Holy Makaral isn’t a religious fish, it is a mantra, a sacred mantra that will actually reverse your karma.

Karma is repetition of old behavior. It is bondage. The hamster wheel. The tread mill. “Jane, stop this crazy thing!”

Everything can change. No one is stuck for ever. Now it is ego making you not change. It isn’t allowing things to happen NOW. We reinforce the problem by thinking about it…over….and over. The mind disallows miracles to happen by only thinking of how to gradually change.

All can be changed with sound. All the world is made of sound.

Put an end to the repetitive mode with the sound “Makaral Sivayanama”

Mah kah rel shee veye yah nah mah

8 and 9 are similar.
8 is Daily Pradosham (level 1)  and 9 is bimonthly or every 13th Moon Pradosham (level 2 and 3- You’ll get it once you read on)

What is Pradosham?

Pradosham literally means the removal of sins. These times are the windows of opportunity to remove karma or karmic energies that limit our potential in this current life.

The 3 Levels of Pradosham

Each energy level indicates how much karma may be released at that time. All levels are designed to help speed our evolution and make our lives easier and happier.

First Level: All Pradoshams occur between 1-1/2 hours before and right up until the moment of sunset in the time zone where you are physically.

The Middle Level: These Pradoshams occur twice each month – on the 13th moon day after the New Moon and after the Full Moon.

The Supreme Level: Sani Pradosham and Soma Pradoshams occurs when one of the 13th moon days occurs on a Saturday or a Monday respectively. The planet Saturn is considered an Agent of Karma who delivers many of life’s tougher lessons to help us refine and evolve our souls. Pradosham time are measured by the phases of the Moon.

  • Sani Pradosham – When 13th Moon falls on Saturday
It is believed that Shiva has more influence over Saturn on this day and can cause Saturn to loosen or release entirely some of the karmic bonds that limit us. It is also thought that the first Pradosham was on a Saturday and observing this time transports us back to time of the Churning of the Milky Ocean.
  • Soma Pradosham – When 13th Moon falls on Monday
Monday is known to be time to worship Shiva, it is the day ruled by His consort, the Goddess Parvati who rules over the Moon. The Moon rules emotions and emotions influence thought. Karma is created by thought.

So daily, from about 4:30 to 6pm- ish -depends when sun down is in your time zone, chant the mantra from #10, at least 108 times.  Write it out 108 times or 10,008 times.
Do the same on 13th Moons, Saturdays and Sundays and ‘normal’ days.

    10. Chant Thiru Neela Kantam (teeroo knee lah can tum)
This literally means blue throat. It goes back to that story I relayed from time immemorial when Shiva drank the poison (negativity) to save humanity from its full effect. This is an amazing mantra. It doesn’t have to be saved for pradosham times, anytime is good for this. Really, sincerely ask that your karma be removed so that you can live life without the present limitations.

4. Feed Crows
5. Eat black sesame and/or black grapes
6. Acknowledge the planet Saturn

In retrospect Saturn could be place either #1 or at least #4 before the crows.
Because, once you know about Saturn, the others make more sense.
You see, Saturn is the planet that has the most influence on our karma. We all know how the Moon affects our tides on Earth, and because we are made mostly of water, the Moon affects us mentally and physically as it moves through its phases each month. Saturn is the ringed planet that is also known as the “agent” of our karma.

I can get into that in more depth later, it would be a tangent now.
4.  The black crow is closely associated with Saturn. By feeding crows, you affect the energetic influence that Saturn has on you.  Feed them meat, or rice, or a mixture with black sesame seeds.  birdie num nums.

5. Eat black sesame and/or black grapes as these are 2 foods associated with Saturn.

6.  Acknowledge Saturn as the agent of your karma.  Light a lamp fueled with sesame oil, have a picture of the planet and/or the Vedic Archetypal representation and repeat this mantra 108 times  “Om Sanicharaya Namaha”  (ohm saw knee chair eye yah nah mah ha).  Do this especially on Saturday as this is the day ruled by the planet Saturn.

7. Even though Saturn is the ‘agent’ of karma, the other 8 planets (as in Vedic Astrology) play roles too- Sun, Moon, Rahu & Ketu- the ‘nodes’ of the Moon-, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus.  Acknowledge them all!  I’ll share the mantras for each one eventually.

Most of these cost nothing, others just a few bucks at your local grocer.
You may have to suspend your disbelief. Sometimes the ‘logical’ solution isn’t the best solution!
These are ‘Divine Karma Busting Solutions’, The Wisdom of the Siddhas: (each will be explained below)
1. Roll a lime.
2. Smash a coconut.
3. Offer your ancestors some rice and sesame seeds.
4. Feed crows.
5. Eat sesame seeds and black grapes.
6. Acknowledge the planet Saturn.
7. Acknowledge all planets.
8. Observe ‘pradosham’ daily times.
9. On 13th Moon, observe ‘pradosham’ times.
10.Chant and/or write the mantra ‘Thiru Neela Kantam’…..(better yet combine #1 with #10 for a Super Duper Daily Karma Buster)

Easy Right?
I’ll explain…..

1.Lime Rolling

Limes have the supernormal power of being able to absorb negativity. When you first shower in morning is the best time to do this, or anytime as long as you shower first.

With the lime or lemon in your right hand, roll the fruit around you head, from the front, around to the back, and to the front again.  Roll now on your throat (known as the seat of your karma -refer to Shiva’s blue throat neela kantam in past post) and your shoulders.  These spots are the most important but feel free to do the roll on the entire body.

Then cut the fruit in fully in half, and discard the 2 bits in the trash.  Be sure to wash the knife, the cutting surface and your hands thoroughly.  You are done.  Just like plaque accumulates on your teeth so you brush daily, do this lime ritual daily.  karma is accumulative.

2.  Coconut smashing

Coconuts are thought to be crucial in sympathetic magic.  The coconut seems like a simple enough tropical treat but is actually holds much ancient knowledge.  It has been used as a Divine Tool from times immemorial.  Shattering coconuts is a spiritual technology that manifests in both your material and spiritual worlds. The coconut energetically absorbs your lower vibrations. When it is smashed, the energy holding back your progress is forcefully disseminated.

First roll the coconut around your head and body like you did with the lime.  Imagine all of the negative energies, thoughts and feelings being transferred to the coconut.  Smash it!  Tip:  Put in a hefty garbage bag first, then heave it hard down onto pavement if in an urban area, or if out in nature where no one treads, heave it against a rock and stand back so as not to get any of the juice on you.

Pick up the smashed coconut still inside the bag, and dispose in the trash.  If out in nature.  Walk away and thank nature for absorbing and transmuting the energies.

Do this at least once a month, best on a 4th Moon for maximum benefit.  It’s all in the timing!

3….I’ll get to 3 later.

It is pradosham time and I must go do my thing…..

“Some thoughts have locked you in for lifetimes. The limitations all begin in your throat. This is where spirit meets matter. karma is held here. The concept of time and space is located in your throat. Focus on your throat with karma busting sound: THIRU NEELA KANTAM”
~ Dr. Pillai

(Phonetics: Tearoo knee lah caan taam)

karma is what governs life.  Mantra is what corrects it.
